Productive Dieting: 6 &1/2 skinny "guilt-free" drinks

One of the hardest parts of eating healthily is to know how to drink healthily. And no, I’m not talking about cutting out sodas or high sugar juices (though that’s important also). I’m talking you’ve done awesome eating the right things all day and now your friends are ready for a night out on the town that is sure to involve at least a drink or two. What you order at the bar has just as much (sometimes more) of an impact on your overall diet regime that it is best to arrive fully prepped with a little inside knowledge on what you will be putting in your body. In order to school myself on this particular topic, I took a little journey on the internet and found some excellent choices that I am excited to try out. The trick really is to not use a lot of mixers and to stick to lower alcohol content. Here is a list of my 6&1/2 favorites. *Please note: these are not to be ingested all at the same time.

1. Manhattan – roughly 130 per 10 oz.
2. Firefly Vodka and Water – roughly 70 calories per 8 oz.
3. Chardonnay – 90 calories per 4 oz.
4. Pabst Blue Ribbon Extra Light – 67 calories per 12 oz.
5. Skinny Girl Margarita (or anything Skinny Girl brand) – about 100 calories per 12 oz.
6and1/2. Vodka and Water and bring your own Crystal Light packets! – around 100 calories per 10 oz.

Another quick tip? Order Vodka Soda, not Vodka Tonics. That makes a difference of 100 calories right there. Other than that, it's the standard add as little to your drink rule. Just by all means do NOT order a Long Island Iced Tea. Those suckers have a whopping 780 calories for just a 8 oz. serving. Gross.
